The Moon's Companion Poem by Emma Vander Dussen

Each night I see her
so bright within the heavens
shining her purity upon us all.
she is the dot of light to
guide us through the shadows
the most loyal of illuminations.

She is the companion of the moon
who, in all his radiance,
drowns the light of all those around him.
but this star, in all her love,
shines greater than any star would dream.
giving the moon company in his darkest of hours.

It is she who whispers songs of sunlight
to his gracious ear
how he longs to know of the laughter
brought to young hearts from the joyful sun.
while he may only bring comfort of sleep
to the tired minds of the old.

He is their protector
the one who lets them know
there is always someone loving
always watching
to keep their hearts of harm.
she keeps his heart from harm

I see her shining every night
her love so clear to us all
and i know she stands not alone
for I see you shining
always shining
to be the companion to a star.
