The Mountain Poem by Jeff Edwards

The Mountain

And I said to the mountain "Get thee hence
With you being here I do take offense."
But the mountain from the spot did not move
In the earth around there was not a groove
So, what is this about a mustard seed?
Seems to me I have all the faith I need
Yet this stupid mountain does stand its ground
So I knelt and searched - answers must be found
Perhaps the mountain is there for reason
It surely is not just for a season
Or by faith I could have moved it away
So there must be a reason it should stay...
Could have turned it to dust, called on the wind,
Asked it into some valley dust to send...
I must ask why this mountain needs to be
And have faith the answers will come to me
And I know there is no way to compare
Me with the man with no mountain there
