The Night Comes For Us Poem by Maria Sudibyo

The Night Comes For Us

Go home
Go back home
The night is not the place
Where you wander alone
In the crowded street
Not because it is unsafe
But because you use your brave
To cover a lonely heart

Go sleep
Go sleep now
The night is not the moment
When you keep waking up
Struggling to open your eyes
Not because you can't do it
But because you just exhausted yourself
To hide your fear of tomorrow
