The One That Got Away Poem by Sheldon Carruthers

The One That Got Away

my love you left me and now I am alone
I'd like to atone for what I did I never meant you harm
you left for higher climbs of that I can be sure
But I implore you to remember me not as some old bore
timing is most important and is something that was amiss
but in every other department our lives were simply bliss
when I see you in my dreams I know you are not real
you are the one that got away but I can only wish you well
