The Only True Love Poem by Sian Macleod

The Only True Love

Rating: 1.0

There were highs
There were lows
There was excitement
There was boredom
There were moments filled with love
And moments filled with hate
Moments I regret
Moments I am glad I didn't forget
But as I lie here and watch it pass
As if like a film behind my aged eyelids
I know I wouldn't have changed a thing
Because I can't change me
I don't want to, you know
Because I quite like the woman that little girl became
I quite like who she made me
Many deathbeds spark confessions
This is mine
I spent my whole life complaining about my flaws
But one thing is true
I love me
