THE OTHER PART OF US
By Mary Aileen D. Bacalso
We do not ask you to stay with us physically every day
Because we know that you are in the other side of the world.
Only we ask you to remember
that you are always in our thoughts and in our hearts despite our distance.
We do not ask you to write to us every day.
Only we ask you to work with us
In our common struggle
Against enforced disappearance
And against impunity.
The dawn of victory will certainly come;
The afternoon has come;
The dark night of the disappeared will end;
And the bright stars will guide us
In our common path
Towards a world without disappeared people.
