The Overture Poem by B. V. Dahlen

The Overture

Rating: 5.0

Along the borders of the day
rising black and swift
billowing soon across the sun
like shadows dark they drift

And distant flashes soon reveal
With rumbles rolling nigh
The glittering belly of the beast
That captivates the sky

The roiling wind soon rattles leaves
And agitates the twigs
Disturbing summers dusty turf
while spiral devils jig

Soon shadowed streaks from clouds to earth
foretell the rain to come
and droplets dance against the ground
like booming kettle drum

While each dropp raises circle spays
and beats the blossoms low
This summer storm at sunset spawns
a ravishing rainbow
