The Pain That Comes From Love Poem by Saturday Chikezie Promise

The Pain That Comes From Love

Being in love hurts more than straight up pain
Hurt is expected from pain, but happens from love.
Pain comes when unending love is not permitted
Or when the people in love are separated.

Separation for days, months or years
That can cause unbearable heartache to anyone
Love is meant to be cherished by the whole heart
This feeling is hindered when the two are apart

Dear Lord, She is the love of my life, and heart and soul
With her, I wish to be bound, hand in hand, hip to hip
My love overflows in my heart, but pain seeps through the cracks

Unable to hold each other, and show how we truly feel
Separated by space, by family by life itself
May you with all your power unite us for a little while
My tender feeling for my love is unending, lasting an eternity.

My heart is sore from the pain, my body drained by sadness
My eyes are dry from all the tears that I have shed in silence
My mind has gone, my thought overtaken by him in all ways
Her scent, her eyes, her touch and her love, for me is all I can truly think of.
