The Park Bench Poem by Owen Cullimore

The Park Bench

The Park Bench

As I sit in silence in the park
The sun shines through the trees
I feel the wind upon my cheeks
And my dress rustles in the breeze

A walk I take most every day
Since my beau has been away
But today I am filled with happiness
Because he returns today

This old park bench is where we met
And first smiles and said hello
It is also where he did propose
So many years ago

Now married for many a year
Our happiness is about to be blessed
For I am with our very first child
Who ever would have guessed

So now he returns our life is complete
And we can be happy for ever more
So I must now leave the park to be at home
When he comes in through our front door

So I can through my arms around him
And kiss him passionately
And let him know just what he has missed
Whilst he has been away from me
