The Path Poem by bob barci

The Path

From yonder - there -
to nearer - here -
I welcomed you to my side.
We spoke, as we walked.
Kicked up autumn leaves
as we traveled the path.
Visions only we could see
decorated the horizon.
They're all gone now.
Just the thought lingers.

Those thoughts grew upon the branches
that have since cracked from heavy snowfall.
They laid dormant for too long.
Now, it's too late.
Warming breezes scatters life
to the path that brought you here.
Now with new life,
we grow again, apart.
Now I must find a different path.
This new springs says so.
You've found your way,
now I, mine.
You'll always remain
as a leaf on my autumn path
to remind me of what once was.
