The Pen Pushing Assassins Poem by Mary Champion

The Pen Pushing Assassins

Take note of the pen-pushing assassins
valiantly manning the bottom line,
computing the cost of being human.
Won't risk investing in society -
many of them dispute its existence
and every one disdains its purpose.
Far better to take their ill-gotten gains
and gamble on the wild Money-markets.

Periodically they lose - billions -
but, no worries, they still have millions left.
And if they really screw up and go broke
they always fall back on society,
which miraculously reappears.
They drain it to preserve their shameless skins
and leave it on the verge of extinction.

As for the poor -
having nothing to lose but their lives -
they die -
get written off as depreciation.
