The Perfect Puzzle Poem by Sophia Engel

The Perfect Puzzle

Rating: 3.0

When I found you
The missing piece
I found myself
I felt complete
I was no longer alone
I was put together
By love, friendship and care
There were no missing parts
The world was finally at peace
No more raging wars
No more poverty
No more missing pieces
We were the perfect puzzle
On lookers envied what we had
So many beautiful memories
Of the times we spent
That were impossible to forget
Even now that you have left me
Left me in an empty puzzle box
Those forsaken memories
Are all I have left of our Perfect Puzzle
The life I loved

Then I lost you somewhere
Along the way
There were neither fights nor disagreements
Just silence
As our puzzle broke
Broke beyond repair
Piece by piece it fell apart
Soon it disappeared
Never to be seen again
I've tried to get it back
I've done everything
Been everything to make it better
But the pieces of the puzzle
Just don't fit together anymore
I found your pieces reconnecting
With new pieces
My pieces were left torn and shattered
Alone in their box
Waiting for you to come back

I just want one last look
At that beautiful puzzle we shared
Even though I know it won't help me get over the pain
The pain that has ruled my life for days, weeks, months, years
The pain that our loss has brought upon me
The pain that threatens to crush me in my youth
But I just cant close the cover to that puzzle
