The Phone Call Poem by R. Ariffin

The Phone Call

When I called you today, my unfilled heart fell;
For hope and grace that you chose to disbelieve;
And for all the pure sweetness that once entwined us;
As I stuttered, my words strived for you to conceive;
That to stop loving you, is as impossible as I were;
To stop the world from revolving, to detest the water;
From flowing, I wanted you to comprehend the fear;
That I do not possess the knowledge to prevent myself;
And love would eternally stay to hold you, no matter what;
Then, when silence seeped in between the interruption;
At the end of the other line, I thought I heard you cried
