The Pond Reflects Poem by Keli Mims

The Pond Reflects

[Written July 4th 2010]

The fire flies light up the trees,
and the paper before me.
While the moths flap thier wings,
And the owl hoots insead of sings.
The embers burn in a dazzaling beauty,
The frogs see their reflection in vanity,
The pond reflects the moon.

The house glows in the distance far away,
A small light guides our way.
Music turned way up loud,
And the fire flies are the only thing I feel now.
Tail gates are put down,
But our breathing is the only sound,
The pond reflects us together.

The flames are so bright,
but only you're in my sight.
We lay back and look to the sky,
Breath taking, my-oh-my.
The stars that look so great,
It's getting dark and late,
The pond reflects our leaving.

You go your way to home,
I walk my way too all alone.
My mind's only thinking of you,
And yours about me too.
Then a noise at my window,
And your voice comes so low,
And the pond reflects our secret reunion.
