The Princess Of Light Poem by Ros Venn

The Princess Of Light

It's been one year since your passing,
Why did it happen? I keep asking.
There are times, where something makes memories spark,
Of you and your mother, like coming home from the park,
I hear, you laughing and playing, always making sure to say hi.
I often talked to your mam, helping with the car or at least try.

It's been one year now, but still feels like it's a nightmare.
I want to wake up now, that I dreamed this, only to become aware,
Everyday I live with the thought that your life was taken,
There was no reason for why it was cut short, no mistaken,
I pray to God, that you find peace. I cannot forget that night.
I will not let it ruin my memory of you. You were a shining light,

Every time you said hi or told someone that we were your neighbour.
It always enlightened my day and it was something you said without labour.
There are no flowers anymore that greet me as I come home.
But, my family and I remember you, a life that once shown.
I cannot believe one year has passed.
Why? I say each day, it's all I have asked
