There is a race that must be run
By all who dwell the earth
To win we need God’s living Son
And gift of second birth
To be reborn is by God’s grace
That none should ever boast
To help us through this life long race
We need The Holy Ghost
The Breath of God we now receive
Gives strength to journey through
From death we truly take our leave
In Christ to life anew
Throughout the race we need God’s Light
No eye from Him must stray
Look neither left nor to the right
Along life’s narrow way
There’s nought in Christ to wear us down
From worldly ties we’re free
Before us lies a golden crown
From Him who’s face we’ll see
To overcome this arduous race
Life’s crown in truth to win
It matters not how swift the pace
But that we run from sin
Satanic hurdles may be found
Inducing much despair
But though they stand in miry ground
They can’t survive a prayer
Those who endure God takes delight
Anointing them with oils
Like Christ, in robes purest white
We’ll share the victor’s spoils.
