Sharmila Saheed

The Rain Song

The leaves open up
They can feel
The light laughter
Of the early breeze

The first few drops
Lay damp on the ground
Ever so silently
Without a sound

No person
Can hush up the rain
Falling lightly
Dripping into the drain

Slowly,
As the sky clears up
I see the sun
And a rainbow way up

The mystery is solved
Though no one will know
When the rain comes again,
Here we go.
