A bird to watch as it flies
Soaring through the cloudless sky
Ever looking for plunder on which to feast
Of danger, it cares the least.
Yet it is smart beyond those that nest
For it learns from bounty and distress
That which appears an easy prey
Can ruin the rest of day.
But the raven, as Poe has written
Is a bird that man is smitten
And when partnered, fowl and man
Enrich each other as no other can.
