The Reality She Lives Poem by CatherineLouise Taylor

The Reality She Lives

She is 6 years old,
Walking home from school,
Alone.
Mother still drunk.
She gets a punch,
A slap, A Kick.
She knew it would happen,
But it still hurts.
Her mother had gone a step too far,
The pain had ended, The sores had healed;
For now she was in heaven,
Living the life she hadnt had.
For the past 5 years,
Since her father died;
Had been a never-ending nightmare,
That you and me might have,
But for that young girl,
It Was Reality.
