The Rescue

Clouded sky like a bride with veil
Is it clouds, or a ship in sail?
Or is it Christ in brilliant light?
Coming to claim His bride in white

Man leaves his wife, mother; her child
Hell’s let loose, people go wild
“Alas not all who call me Lord
Will come to me, or climb on board”

Children adrift, how can they cope?
Christ is their anchor, their only hope
Rock in the storm, high and low tide
Steadfast in Jesus, always abide

“Come! ” cries the voice of Christ the King
Boarding complete, His ship takes wing
The bride joins Groom, Thief in the night
Higher and higher perfect delight

Christ our lifeboat, Saviour so near
Redeemed this child He loves so dear
In faith I saw His mighty host
“Thank You” I whispered to Jesus’ Ghost

Higher and higher I now understand
Voyage of peace; love close at hand
Heart full of joy, soul soon to leap
Sailing with Jesus life’s ocean deep

Above the bow, a skylark sings
Seagulls swoop like dolphins with wings
Creation laughs, bustles with joy
Passing now the penultimate buoy

Now drawing close, harbour in sight
Waving angles glorious light
Yet how I greave for those left behind
Don’t lose out let Christ change your mind.
