The Right Choice Poem by Dani Lynch

The Right Choice

you say you're good
but you know inside you're bad
you don't care how you act
your friends do
they offer to help you
you say no, you can do it yourself
they walk away
all afraid of what to come
your best friend comes to you
she says 'it's gonna be ok
the old dani is gonna be back,
trust me, i know it'
she takes you to your favorite place
the swings, at the park
she says 'i need to talk to you'
you say 'no i don't wanna lose the best thing
that ever happened to me'
then all you see is her body in front of you
she squats down, so she can see your pretty eyes
she says 'Dani your not gonna lose me, we're stuck'
she knows, how i feel to have lost my best sister
even though she didn't have one
she is apart of your everything
she takes care of you and loves you
she goes home with you
she talks to you about being the old dani
and you say 'she's gone and i don't think, she's coming back'
she says 'i know she will just like all your other friends do
she'll be back, trust me, even if she doesn't, i'll just have to learn
how to love the new dani, like i loved the old one'
'i love and care for so much, no matter what'
