The Secret Sacred Pact Poem by Emeka GOC

The Secret Sacred Pact

The secret, sacred pact

Oji, palm wine, and the ringing Ogene
Orchestrate the heartbeat of the Igbo square.
When the gathering thrives,
The Ekwe, Udu, and Oja rise to grace the air.

Kola nuts open the traditional gates
Weaving tight bonds, anchoring kinship,
Fostering development, and enriching minds
To spark the flames of contemporary thought.

Where Kola nuts welcome the elders,
Palm wine steps forward, the beautiful bride,
While the Ogene and Ekwe the wooden internet
Broadcast the rhythm far and wide.

Then comes the Oja, a singing bird,
Out soaring the nightingale, dancing in the sky.
Together, they amplify every human drive:
Art, culture, commerce, and tech ignite.

This timeless team crafts the atmosphere,
A vibrant festival of music, food, and art.
Step forward and tap into the ancient plans near you
Celebrate the creativity that connects the human heart.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The poem celebrates the sacred role of traditional Igbo instruments and symbols—like Oji (kola nut) , palm wine, Ogene, and Ekwe—as the foundational communication network ('the wooden internet') that fosters community, trade, and celebration. Strengths: The metaphor of the Ekwe and Ogene acting as a 'wooden internet' is brilliant and deeply modern. It frames ancient African traditions as high-utility technology for social connection.
