The Shadow Of Your Demise (Villanelle) Poem by William Cavanagh

The Shadow Of Your Demise (Villanelle)

As you grimace and glaze into my eyes
Through teary darkness you may guess
I am the shadow of your demise

As you begin to finally realize
T’s I, who punched you, I confess
As you grimace and glaze into my eyes

I am weathered to your senseless lies
And, I’m happy that you’re such a mess
I am the shadow of your demise

As you realize it’s too late for compromise
Your repressive manner may now regress
As you grimace and glaze into my eyes

Now you may have began to surmise
Through watered blackened eyes, you may assess
I am the shadow of your demise

I have always seen through your disguise
My heavy hand is now at rest, no less
I am the shadow of your demise!
As you grimace and glaze into my eyes
