The Shape Of Sounds Poem by Lois Read

The Shape Of Sounds

Listen to a language
not your own; see
the shape of sounds
divorced from meaning
curves
slants
points
making a musical line
dancing
dropping
evolving
into full glorious color
purple sweeps
sliding
to seductive rose
punctuated
by staccato yellow points
(a handwriting exercise?)
smoothing out
to blue and turquoise curves.
