The Silence Of The Seeing Eye Poem by Mystic Qalandar

The Silence Of The Seeing Eye

I know that I exist—
whole, without lack.
Yet the waves of the heart
pull at me
and ask
where my true dwelling is:
from what unbroken silence
did I emerge,
and by what strange grace
was this "I" lent to me?

A seeking wayfarer
standing on the shore,
I could not have known
that I was the ocean itself,
the shore itself,
the wave
wandering in search,
and the thirst
dreaming of water.
Nothing was ever
anywhere else.
Only that
"hidden treasure,
precious beyond price, "
longing to be recognized,
inclined the seeing wayfarer
to turn his gaze back
toward his own source
and, arriving there, to know
that the eye
which sees the worlds
is itself, in truth, the world
it is seeing:
one lamp,
a thousand mirrors,
light dissolving into light—
that light which had never
been separate
from this "original light."
