The Silent Foe Poem by Sumana S C

The Silent Foe

Each thing in its place was best,
Strengthened and supported the rest.
I too found my place in the quest,
To fulfil my dreams, to live in jest.

Together we fought the faded forests,
Erased the darkness there,
We filled with song the silent fields,
Everything around was serene and fair.

We lived the dawn,
Danced the sunset glow
Unaware of the lurking death,
The scariest enemy, the silent foe.

Slowly and stealthily, the mighty predator
Joined hands with the faithless friends,
Together with their ubequitous presence,
Slashed and severed whoever it chanced.

Death smiled, spewed its venomous words,
Ye poor men, fear the dreadful me;
Submit to me your dreams and goal,
Your unconquerable, invincible, indomitable soul.
