The Slence That Listens Poem by Mystic Qalandar

The Slence That Listens

In the darkness
my restless self cries out—
but I know:
my primordial consciousness
is listening to me
from the depths of silence.

I try to quiet
that cry within me—
even though I know
the moment
my true consciousness awakes,
all chains of the self
will break by themselves.

What, after all, am I afraid of?

I stand at the last edge of awareness,
and my eternal being
has taken my hand
as if the sea
never leaves its own wave alone.

Now no fear remains,
no sorrow.
This is I—
my only true friend,
my first companion,
my eternal fellow-traveler.

What then is there to fear?
I do not stand on the threshold of life,
but at the fountainhead,
where every beginning
is already complete
before its ending.

Crawling through darkness
I saw
that my self
was exhausted
under its own burden.

Now I
cannot ignore
my true consciousness.
Now I
cannot live outside
my inner home,
because the real homeland
dwells within.

Now I have
no fear of the self's deception.
My true consciousness
walks with me,
stays with me,
breathes with me.
It never lets go of my hand.

Now I do not tremble,
now I am not in sorrow.
This is I—
my only true companion,
my true consciousness.

At last
my restless self
has fallen silent,
and silence
is now
a living song for me.

I walk the path
that always was within me.
My truth now speaks with me.
And I at last
find the peace
that since the primordial day
was the quiet foundation
of my being.

Now there is
no fear of the self's deception,
no sleep of heedlessness.
Because my awakened consciousness
stands with me—
in every breath,
at every step,
in every quiet.

Now I
cannot stray from the Straight Way,
because the path
has become lit within me.

I am not imprisoned
by the commanding self.
I am not confined
behind tall iron walls.
Even in this transient house
of flesh, bone, and time—
which people call the body—
I am not limited.

Now I fear not death,
not annihilation,
not reckoning.
For with every breath
I hold myself to account.

I am my own examiner,
I am my own witness,
I am my own court.
And in that court,
every moment,
I stand before my own truth.

Then no sentence is passed—
but I dissolve into my own truth.

There, where no fear remains,
no separation,
no I,
no self—
only that single Reality
which since eternity
has introduced itself
in every breath.

And I for the first time know—
that I was never imprisoned.
