The So Called Golden Path Poem by Joshua Wyatt

The So Called Golden Path

I walked my golden path
The path that had no splits

A direct path to happiness
Predictable
Safe
Lonely
This path had to end

I fell out from under my feet
The ground broke like glass
The sky turned black as death
My golden path was over

I fell through the ground
Flailing my arms in panic
Unheard screams echoed through me
Tears exploded from my eyes
I had been grabbed by the darkness

This thing took everything from me
Stripped me of the good
of the bad
It took it all
Until i was left with nothing

It smashed my into some ground
Letting me be free of evil

It didn't matter though
I had nothing left
Why would I even bother to get up?

I lye perfectly still on this ground.
My eyes wide open
Rotting from inside out
