The Stage Poem by Michelle Tiddy

The Stage

Rating: 5.0

Shaped by life, and shaped by love
My character is defined by above
Feathery wings and glowing horns
All play a part in in my destiny

It's written in the wind? ? ?
I don't know you see, I think
We all write our own destiny
I'm sure of that, it's up to us..

We choose, we love, we lie
We learn, we laugh we cry and then
We share, we take, we make, we break
We journey to higher plains

We are only human, we have faults
We cannot say we are blameless
Every act we play out on this stage
Is a journey from our hearts

Exit stage left, enter stage right
Twirl and dance and skip in fright
Or maybe just take the prompt
Perhaps that's what we need...

Look to the stalls, the circle
Who has paid the higher price?
I think we all have, nobody else
To earn our place in this life

Velvet curtains, smoking with dreams
Actors playing out their schemes
People forgetting their lines
Why didn't they rehearse?

Because they couldn't... see this game
Of life has no script, no path
No 'this is how, this is why'
Just a promise that you can make it

Make it your own, take it into your hands
Like putty, that you can mold and shape
and twist and turn and close your eyes
And yearn for a promise or a hope

Or a dream.... Always a dream
Always a glimpse of what you want
From those tiny opera glasses
Are they tainted like roses?

So, take off the greasepaint
Come out of the wings..
Fly upon oceans and colours and dreams
And just be, just be, just be.......

You have just hit the nail on the head here and then some about our 'roles' in life and who we are, and why we are who we are, and what we can do with all we learn in this 'play of life' and the limits also that we all encounter.
