The Story Of A Hat Poem by Irene Bitter

The Story Of A Hat

One evening, a young lad
Was walking down a street,
And on this street he found
A hat.
This hat belonged to a businessman,
Who had a scandalous affair
With his secretary,
Who was a wife
Of a sales clerk at H&M,
Who sold a purple necktie
To a UN employee,
Who flew a plane
With a Parisian writer,
Who went to a concert
Of a feisty singer,
Who gave her autograph
To an engineer,
Who stole a portrait
Of a famous actress,
Who danced at a discotheque
With a photographer,
Who was a cousin
Of a waiter
Who served a piece of cake
To a taxi driver,
Who was best friends with
A sophisticated hatter,
Who made the hat,
Which a young lad,
Who was his son
Had found on the street.
