The Strand Poem by shane nolan

The Strand

entering kilkee on a warm summers day
with a comforting breeze on my back
walking towards the strand also makes
me remember awhile back

i used to play on the strand as a lil kid
build sand castles among other kids
and jump around in the sea with the other kids
but time flys by and now already im no longer that kid

im a whole new person while i stand on the strand
a whole new person while i walk the strand
looking out at the horseshoe shaped beach
gives me a feeling of happy times
of which i sometimes remember

hearing the seagulls hearing the waves
makes the occisonal visit worth the stay
looking out into the distance
makes me believe the world aint so small
as we are made to believe
