We think we’re saved we have it made
In churches standing tall
But some of us begin to fade
Through wicked tongues we fall
Although God’s Son dwells in the heart
We let the devil, speak
From in the mind he’ll tear apart
When thoughts of his we leak
We can’t let Satan rule the mind
And lead us off to hell
Our eyes in Christ that once were blind
Should know his tricks too well
Venomous tongues do more than sting
Like knives, they often kill
The devil’s vicious song they’ll sing
Instead of cleaving still
We’re saved by grace to live anew
Not speak of one with guile
From out Christ’s mouth such filth He’ll spew
As we; distasteful bile
But first we must be found inside!
Of this can be no doubt
We must be part of Jesus’ bride
For Him to spit us out
It’s not to flesh these things are said
The world can’t understand
But we in Christ who once were dead
Those saved in Jesus’ hand
The tongue can bring us so much shame
Can turn the wisest blind
Without the truth in Jesus’ name
Salvation’s not to find.
