The Ugly Spirit Poem by Francis Poole

The Ugly Spirit

Burroughs called it the Ugly Spirit.
It's always lurking around
waiting to spread a film of sadness
and negativity over the lens.
I deal with it every day.
Which means I have
to be strong and keep
mine heart open and alert.
And that's not easy.
