The Unbreakable Creed 1. (To Beloved Honey Badger) Poem by Emeka GOC

The Unbreakable Creed 1. (To Beloved Honey Badger)

The Unbreakable Creed 1.
(To beloved Honey Badger)

I love the honey badger
Born where the world is rough
Asia's dust, Africa's Sahel- heat, tough
And the Indian hills very rugged
The honey badger rises, a stocky silhouette
Carved from the hardness of nature itself
Loen ranger, It walks alone,
A midnight wanderer draped in black,
Wearing a grey mantle like a warning
from crown to tail; EKWEKWE
I am built for the unforgiving.

It is called "Ratel, " (The snake killer)
But names mean little to a creature
That answers only to instinct, to hunger,
Name does not describe the Badger
To the pulse of survival beating beneath tough,
Slippery, loose and woolly skin
That refuses to surrender unto grips of teeth
In forests, grasslands, savannahs,
In mountains where the wind bites,
It thrives, strives and survives
With a deceptive a small body holding
An immeasurable hidden strength,
A fierce spirit facing lions, snakes,
And anything foolish enough
To let arrogance override their ignorance
To mistake size for weakness
like the Diamond fish.

People say it loves honey, sweet!
However, the truth is sharper, even sweeter! !
It seeks the proteinous larvae,
The life hidden behind stings and fury.
Beekeepers curse its tenacity,
Losing hives to a creature
That does not fear pain,
that does not fear venom,
That does not fear the swarm.
That does not fear a thousand bee- stings
Arrows bend against its hide and spears fail.
Even when held in a predator's jaws,
Tt's loose skin lets it twist, turn and bites back
It's a reminder that survival is not always pretty,
But it is always petrifying, painful and powerful.

It hunts with cunning, blocking burrows,
Out- thinking prey, out- lasting danger.
A weasel-shaped predatory warrior
With a mind sharper than its claws

And still in awe!
In the quiet moments between battles, it plays.
Because even the fiercest beings carry a spark of joy
That the world cannot crush a playful joy.
This is the honey badger;
The tenacious, relentless, unyielding.
A creature that never gives up, never bows,
Never lets the world decide its fate.

A lesson wrapped in fur and ferocity:
Strength is not size.
Courage is not noise.
Survival is not beauty.
And resilience, true resilience
Is the art of refusing to die.

In a world that keeps trying to kill you.
Refuse to die,
Never give up
Never surrender
There are lots of joy and dignity in living.
There are no dignity in death
In a world that keeps trying to kill you.
Learn the art of refusing to die
