The matatu slowly drives in
A wobbly contraption
The scrawny man drives on
unsettled
shifty eyes
All the way through the inspection unit gate
'Quality Assurance! '
screams the motto
at the gate;
ISO 2025: 34 certified.
The man on the phone
and hand in pocket
duptliciously waves it on
disinterest written on his face.
In a record thirty minutes
the matatu emerges
Right out of the gate
stamped; 'Certified! '
Carrying capacity -
34 passengers!
The man on the phone glances at the Daily Roster
'39 killed; with driver and conductor! '
mourns the headline.
