The Violence Lovers

THE VIOLENCE LOVERS

When I was just a nipper, the car was still on tour,
The flivver in which they died trying to avoid the ambush:
"Coming to your town soon! "
(this was before Arthur Penn, of course--)
The car full of bullet holes, windows shot out, bloodstains still visible!
I picture them canoodling in the car,
stepping over guns on the floorboards, maybe a chopper or two,
and I wonder-- the bigger thrill:
sex in the back seat or robbing the bank with pistols drawn?
