The Voices I Listen To Instead Poem by Jake Phillips

The Voices I Listen To Instead

Do you hear, the voices inside my head
Speaking in tongues
About, what to do instead.
I lay there in bed
Looking at the ceiling
Wondering what that one just said.
They speak of my thoughts.
"Ought you go say sorry too"
One said
"Ought you not do that again"
Another said
"OUGHT YOU BE QUIET SO I CAN GO TO BED! "
I said

(the voices I listen to instead)
