The Wakening Poem by Catherine Inscore

The Wakening

I woke up
a dream so frightening!
the end, you know-it was here

the earth swallowed up
the skies fell around me
oceans left and returned in a fury

all that was left...
was desire
for a new world

peacefulness
while sweat dripped from
my brow

blood flowed from my body
my soul drenched
in sorrow
