The Way He Talks Poem by Katrina Williams

The Way He Talks

Something bout the way he talks
I dont know what it is
Dont matter what he says
Cuz its the voice that makes it his
Theyre his words that lift me off the ground
My heart beats harder with each sound
And even though I know its wrong
I cant ignore what makes me strong

At least for part of every day
Hes all that drives my pain away
I know he dont see it the same
And though I hate to live this way
His smiles worth the price I pay

I know he could never take the place
Of all I used to be
But every time I see his face
For a while hes like a memory
