The Wisest Woman In The World Poem by Maya Trowborst

The Wisest Woman In The World

I once knew the wisest woman in the world
I say once because she is gone
Murdered by jealousy
And her body broken bone by bone

She was wise beyond her years
Free, loving, fair, honest, and strange
She was an untamed beauty
One the world sought to cage

The world despised her.
Because no one else could be like her
No one was as understanding or fair
And so they wanted her to disappear

They murdered her with jealousy
For she was honest and they were not
She was fair and they were not
She was free of regret and they were not

Because she could see the things they didn't
Hear they things they never could
Think the things they never bothered to
And say they things that they were never brave enough to

She was the wisest woman in the world.
Born of poverty
Rich with wisdom
And murdered by jealousy
