The Wooing Of Sweet Mabel Poem by Mary Champion

The Wooing Of Sweet Mabel

Sweet Mabel, may I be so bold -
compare your hair to soft spun gold.
Your sparkling eyes - cornflower blue,
complexion fresh as morning dew.

Sweet Mabel may I meet you soon,
we'll stroll beneath the Harvest moon,
embrace beside the willow tree,
we'll kiss and vow to always be

true lovers till the end of time.
Sweet Mabel will you please be mine?
Your voice is music to my ears,
your smile will dry my lonely tears.

Sweet Mabel, there is none so fair,
your beauty is beyond compare,
your perfect form, your style and grace -
I'm captivated by your face.

Sweet Mabel, should I win your heart
I promise that I'll learn the art
of love to bring you deep delight
most afternoons and ev'ry night.

And come the spring, sweet Mabel, dear
I'm asking with a heart sincere,
may bells ring from the church to say
'Sweet Mabel is my bride today'.
