The Words Poem by Clare Clare

The Words

Nobody came to my funeral
But of course what did I expect
I knew only of paper
Only of words that I can't seem to stop writing even at my funeral
Only of fantasies I built in my head

And oh' did I have a fantasy
They all attended the funeral
It was grand I cried and laughed genuinely
They were all there
No, not the people I invited none
The words came
The papers too
Each one of them attended
They were always there

And as I lay there they finally came to life
They finally made sense
They arranged themselves just how I would
Not crying
But finally as happy as I wanted them
