The World Sits On A Raft

By Mohammad A.Yousef

The world sits on a raft,
drifting on waves of time,
a patchwork of dreams and fears,
floating between the known and unknown,
held together by hope,
spinning slowly beneath the sun.

Cities rise like mountains,
built from brick, concrete, and heart,
where laughter echoes in alleyways,
and shadows stretch long
as day slips into dusk.
People rush, their lives
a dance of hurried steps,
while somewhere, a child
blows dandelion seeds,
watching them scatter,
like wishes on the wind.

The ocean beneath hums softly,
the heartbeat of the planet,
reminding us of the depths,
where secrets dwell,
and creatures glide,
unseen by our busy eyes,
yet ever-present,
in the tapestry of life.

Mountains loom at the edges,
guardians of the sky,
their peaks kissed by clouds,
whispering stories of ages past,
and the rivers carve through,
like veins, carrying life,
from the tallest heights
to the quiet corners of the earth.

Yet, here we are,
on this raft of dreams,
our hands gripping the sides,
as storms threaten to crash,
and the winds howl their warnings,
but still we laugh,
still we sing,
for the raft is our home,
and the journey, our own.

So let us sail,
together, side by side,
through the calm and the chaos,
finding beauty in the waves,
in the way the sun sets,
and the stars awaken,
reminding us,
that even on this raft,
we are never alone.
