The Worth Of Waiting

Go not where no invitation lies,
Lest silent scorn should meet your eyes.
Unwelcome there your presence seems,
So linger here, and guard your dreams.

To enter thus is hardly fair,
Your self-respect is yours to bear.
A quiet strength resides in you,
A dignity both deep and true.

Pause awhile, let time unfold,
For worth is not in haste but hold.
In patience let your spirit stay,
They'll call you forth another day.

With pride endure, do not be drawn,
For earned respect will come at dawn.
