There Was Poem by D A Phinney

There Was

There was a heart
That shook the invisible eye
But what is only addition
Cannot be multiply
Laughs undone
We must stitch up what is beaten
Mourning no unhappened hour
Nor cloud that was not sky

Oceans are soft
And revolve about the Moon
They do not bury you at sea
They dump you in
We are not buried here
Time floats
Love sinks
But do not hold your breath
Breathing's human
Another way of being she
Let the currents of the Moon
Carry us off
