These Assumptions Poem by Sean Green

These Assumptions

These assumptions made for sanity
lest the madness find a place
already present in small part
awaits for reason to depart

scraps snatched to satisfy
crumbs sustaining vacant calm
while the storms may conspire
outside the window of the mind

curtains drawn as consequence
otherwise the world would bend
tumble down as gaps appear
expose the farce that all fear

warped to test belief in God
for lies then resolved
assumptions gathered are no more
now cast aside as madness grows.
