By Mohammad A. Yousef
But they don't know the struggles I've faced
The battles I've fought, the tears I've shed
They don't see the nights I've spent awake
Working hard while they were snug in bed
They call me lucky
But they don't know the sacrifices made
The dreams put on hold, the risks taken
They don't feel the weight of responsibility
Or the pressure that keeps me awaken
They call me lucky
But they don't know the doubts in my mind
The fear of failure, the uncertainty
They don't see the strength it takes to keep going
To push through each obstacle with tenacity
They call me lucky
But they don't know the lessons I've learned
The mistakes I've made, the growth I've experienced
They don't understand the perseverance it takes
To keep moving forward, undeterred and undaunted
They call me lucky
But luck has little to do with it
It's about determination, resilience, and grit
It's about standing tall in the face of adversity
And never giving up, no matter how hard it gets
So call me lucky if you must
But know that luck is just a small part of the story
For behind the facade of success and achievement
Lies a person who has struggled, suffered, and fought for their glory
They call me lucky
But luck has nothing to do with it
I am where I am because of my hard work and dedication
So next time you call me lucky
Remember the journey it took to reach this destination.
