Think Of Them In Jail

Life’s commission is on the street
Dividing Heaven’s bread
We’ve learned our craft at Jesus’ feet
To raise the walking dead

We need to think of them in jail
Through Satan lost and blind
It matters not how oft we fail
If yet but one’s to find

We’re not confined behind church walls
We’re saved to serve God’s Son
For work outside, Salvation calls
Where much can still be done

Some teach in pubs we shouldn’t go
Hell’s den we’re not to plough
Yet where on earth would Jesus sow?
If He was still here now!

The world’s the field of Christ today
There is no place taboo
When anchored firm, not one will stray
When truly born anew

“Go preach the word” is God’s command
“Teach all who dwell the earth
So that my children understand
Through Christ there’s second birth”

In palace royal or public bar
In every house of shame
God’s servants teach where sinners are
And lift up Jesus’ name

We must go forth to spread the Light
When even frail and old
In Jesus’ strength we’ll win the fight
When all the earth we’ve told
