This Is It (Final Words Spoken By An Uncle) Poem by Richard G Berg

This Is It (Final Words Spoken By An Uncle)

'This is it'
Three bald words
All it took
Said it straight
To see beneath
The present state
Allow his fate.

'This is it'
Body telling brain
Stop - signal - train
Drawing to halt
An assonant hit
Life's last assault.

'This is it'
Time to go
Lights slope out
Close the show.

'This is it'
Tears to eyes
Not the time
To fathom whys.

'This is it'
The concluding act
The knowing stare
Life's death-pact.
