This Might (Not) Offend Some People Poem by Dan Walters

This Might (Not) Offend Some People

Rating: 2.8

I

Everyone comes up
With reasons why they want to die
And I sit around stumped
Thinking about why
I want to stay alive
Because somewhere close
And somewhere far
But just not here
Or anywhere consisting of me
There are people enjoying themselves
And enjoying one another
But I’m very easily disgusted with most everyone

II

I hadn’t spent much time
Anywhere that I spent any time at all
And that’s all I did was spend
Reluctantly covering bills
Never and waiting to cash in
Learning that some things that go around
Just stay there while your waiting to get yours

III

In the back of their minds
There must be a little doubt
About their faith, but I guess we’ll see
So just for f***’s sake
I’ll wish you god-speed
While you’re making your ascendance
And I’m laying perfectly still
The sky will probably swallow you whole
